Robin Miller is a Partner in Dalberg’s Johannesburg office where she leads the firm’s Global Technology Practice. Through her work, she has advised leading global technology firms, national governments, multi-laterals, corporations and early stage technology start-ups to pursue a range of opportunities including institutional strategy, market expansion, innovation and the design of new ventures.
Robin has served a range of clients focused on education, ed tech, and employment in South Africa. In particular, she recently led and engagement with the City of Johannesburg and Harambee to map and assess the Future of Work, which included a mapping of the demand for skills in the economy and increasing role of digital. Previously, she also led a team to support JPMorgan in a national landscape assessment of the education and employment landscape for entry level work seekers in South Africa. And finally, with regard to the design of new ventures, she has also worked closely with both government and leading youth employment technology accelerator to build a sustainable business model that has allowed them to reach over 250 000 young people, support job placement for over 30 000 and secure sustainable revenue from government, private and social sector totaling more than $15M USD over 5 years.
Prior to joining Dalberg, Robin co-founded the Praekelt Foundation, an African mobile technology incubator that designs and deploys innovative solutions focused on health, economic development, and education. Praekelt Foundation has deployed its services across over 30 countries in Africa and in 2012 launched the Jozi Hub, a co-creation space focused on building solutions for sustainable change. The Praekelt team is also leading incubation support for social entrepreneurs focused on accessing Facebook’s FreeBasics platform and the company has worked with a range of global partners including MTN, Vodacom, USAID, and the Omidyar Network.
Robin has worked extensively across sub-Saharan Africa and North America as well as Europe and Asia. Robin earned her BA in economics and business management from Boston College.
